Longchamp

The Longchamp brand was created in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain, who began selling pipes covered with leather in the family tobacconist store. The leather-covered pipes were a fabulous, luxurious success in post-war Paris, and the firm developed a range of small leathergoods accessories. The galloping horse logo was chosen in tribute to the famous Parisian racetrack.

Jean’s son Philippe developed the wonderful lightweight nylon luggage which we first bought in 1975, and then designed the renowned Pliages. Philippe’s children now manage Longchamp – Jean is the “Directeur General” of the firm, and Sophie Delafontaine is the Creative Director.

Cutting edge design and a sense of fun can be seen throughout the Longchamp range and their collaboration with famous and cutting-edge artists such as Tracy Emin, Jean-Luc Moerman, Thomas Heatherwick and Jeremy Scott indicate art and artistic style are very influential to the brand.

Hunt Leather is Longchamp’s longest-standing international customer, importing Longchamp directly since 1975. We are proud to have the exclusive Longchamp boutiques in Sydney as well as a very extensive collection of Longchamp handbags, luggage, wallets, and accessories in our Hunt Leather stores.
