Mario Briccola founded Bric's in 1952. Based in Como, near the famous lake, (where they have over 200 employees), Bric’s has stores around the world now including Madison Avenue, Paris, and Milan’s famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. They are truly a family business – Mario has seven children and they are nearly all working in the firm. And they’re charming too. In fact in the latest catalogue, apart from a couple of professional models all the “actors” were part of the family, including grandchildren.
They have a great range of luggage collections, but the core range is “Life”, which we have sold now for many years. This year (2009) we will launch their fastest-growing “X-Bag” in a soft lightweight nylon. Customers love Bric’s for the sophisticated appearance, and tend to become collectors.

The basic material is PVC, coated with a special flock of cotton and viscose. The material is treated with a special process of “bottolatura”, which is typical of leather and gives an aspect “similar to shammy”. The linings are jacquard polyester and very hardwearing, and the handles and reinforced corners are Tuscan vegetable-tanned leather, with brass fittings. The fabric is waterproof (although zips never are!). The fabric does “age” with use, wearing as leather does, becoming a little darker on wear points.
